A few hours with the family

Another year. I didn’t get to go out with Flo and the kids until the 27th. But we had a bit of fun.

Flo bought two books by Jackie Collins for herself and two for me — Sein Language by Jerry Seinfeld and If You Look Like Your Passport Photo, It’s Time To Go Home by Erma Bombeck.

That was at Ever Commonwealth. Then we crossed over to Royale Place and had snacks at Easy Street. Flo and I split a burger and Ani and Alessi had french fries. Ani had ice cream — Dulce Leche from Fruits in Cream (FIC).

Alessi was grumbling because she could only take a lick from Ani's cone. She still had a cold and a bit of a cough. They stayed from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. I stayed behind and had some beers.

Diane arrived and sat with me and we had beers till around 1:30 a.m. Again I bought her some beers. She was driving me home, but on the way, we saw that Dutch Jacob was still open so we dropped by for a few more beers.

Jacques the owner was there with Dave, Leo, Tom (the engineer), and his brother. Jac ended up driving me home. Not a bad way to celebrate the holidays, but I could have had more.

I spent most of the first days of the year reading. Last Sunday I finished The Proteus Operation by James P. Hogan. Took me the entire afternoon and the morning of the next day to finish it.

Then yesterday I spent the entire day reading Irwin Shaw’s Nightwork, which is the second time I’ve read it. Nice story. Not sure if it’s been done as a TV movie, but it could make for a nice miniseries.
